The House Judiciary Committee has set up a Wednesday meeting to review a massive overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws and spending, according to The Hill.
The committee released a detailed draft of potential legislation Monday that calls for making up to $45 billion available for immigration detention centers.
That level of potential spending is described in a section of the draft labeled “ADULT ALIEN DETENTION CAPACITY AND FAMILY RESIDENTIAL CENTERS.” The draft spells out the large expenditure for what may be involved:
