Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon on Wednesday said Palestinians should not be forcibly removed from their land, though he backed President Donald Trump’s plan to take control of the Gaza Strip.

“I think we all agree that it should require the consent — consent of people to move out from where they live, and the consent for other countries to receive them,” Danon said during an appearance on CNN Wednesday.

Trump on Tuesday suggested during a White House news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. take “ownership” in redeveloping the war-torn territory into “the Riviera of the Middle East.”
