Police Unions Assail Trump’s Jan. 6 Pardons

The Fraternal Order of Police, the largest police union in the United States, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police condemned on Tuesday President Donald Trump’s issuing of pardons and commutations of convicted Jan. 6 rioters, Axios reported.

The two organizations wrote in a joint statement a condemnation of both the Biden and Trump administrations for the pardons and commutations granted to “individuals convicted of killing or assaulting law enforcement officers.”

“Allowing those convicted of these crimes to be released early,” the statement continued, “diminishes accountability and devalues the sacrifices made by courageous law enforcement officers and their families.”
