Americans need courage to say, “My religion is superior to anything the government says,” the Rev. Gerald Murray, pastor of the Church of the Holy Family in New York City, told Newsmax Saturday.

“The ‘woke’ movement was largely sponsored by the government and by elite institutions such as universities and Hollywood and the like, and it basically asserted that a nonreligious view of life is the only one that’s acceptable in public,” Murray said during an appearance on Newsmax TV’s “Saturday Agenda.”

“And that’s ridiculous. You know, they’re going after football coaches who say prayers after games with the team. They’re going after pro athletes who refuse to cooperate in promoting the gay agenda and things of this sort.
