President Donald Trump thinks first and foremost about protecting the American people, Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., told Newsmax Tuesday.

Daines said Trump’s interest in acquiring Greenland is about putting the interests of Americans first.

“Greenland is a very strategic part of that geography,” Daines said on “National Report.” “The northernmost military installation that we have for the United States is in Greenland, the Thule Base. It’s a very important part of the early missile detection systems. I’m grateful that President Trump puts American interests first. And I’m glad to see the Europeans and the Danish are taking his conversations seriously.”
