President Donald Trump on Tuesday is talking with House Republicans who remain uncommitted to supporting House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., on his budget proposal, urging them to back the legislation, Politico reported.

Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., a member of the House Freedom Caucus, said on Tuesday that Trump was speaking to his colleagues that day about the bill. According to Johnson, several House Republicans contacted the president while deciding how to vote on the issue.

Rep. Tim Burchett, R-Tenn., said in an interview that Trump called him early Tuesday afternoon to ask him to support the budget plan.
